WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?
Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain control over another intimate partner. Many types of abuse are included in the definition of domestic violence: physical abuse, sexual abuse, verbal abuse, threats, stalking, emotional abuse, economic abuse, psychological abuse and cyberstalking.
**Every 9 seconds — a woman is beaten in this country. Thousands of women have been killed by their significant others. Domestic violence has also increased amid COVID-19. If anyone you know is in an abusive relationship, please check on them more often.
Although women are abused more than men, any form of abuse, regardless of gender — is a crime. Inexcusable. And unacceptable. Everyone deserves to be in a healthy and happy relationship.
When it comes to domestic violence, silence — is not golden. We must all do more to end domestic violence. If you see something, DO something. Report Abuse! The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the event of an emergency, call 911, **when it is SAFE to do so.
Let's ALL work together to end domestic violence!
